Maiden research voyage

It’s currently all hands on deck in preparation for the first research voyage of the “Eugene Seibold”. The research vessel is scheduled to set sail in mid-May with the aim of sampling the waters in the Atlantic north of Lanzarote. The “Seibold” is equipped with state-of-the-art systems to analyse the ocean’s waters as well as the chemical, physical and biological properties of the air. The energy needed to run the high-tech equipment is generated by an 80-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery bank – the same as in a Tesla. The extraordinary vessel is the subject of an article in the latest issue of the sailing journal “Yacht”.
